Our Story: Exceptional Heating and Cooling Service in Olathe

Ramon Blachly founded Blachly Heating and Cooling, Inc. in Olathe, KS in the spring of 1987 when he was 31. He had a wife, a six-year-old son and a five-year-old daughter.  He previously worked in retail sales while attending school at night. After seven years in the HVAC industry, he decided that the best way to provide a better life for his family was to go into business on his own. He put his phone number in the local directory, took a business course at the local community college and went door to door looking for customers.

Olathe Heating and CoolingBlachly wanted to provide exceptional heating and cooling services in Olathe, KS.  With a strong work ethic and attention to detail, it didn’t take long for Blachly to develop a loyal customer following. He built his business by being honest, convenient, and by treating each customer and their home with respect. From the beginning, his wife Janet was his bookkeeper, secretary, and scheduled appointments from their basement office while taking care of their two children. Later that same year, Blachly bought Olathe Heating and Cooling, Inc. from John Henke upon his retirement. In 1989 the couple moved their equipment into their first building and hired their first technician.

Never one to be afraid of change, Blachly decided that after 17 successful years as Olathe Heating and Cooling, the best way to continue to look after his family and company was to become a One Hour Heating & Air Conditioning franchise. He was pleased to find that One Hour embraced the same values as he did…convenience, courtesy, honesty, and respect…and was able to provide his employees with more opportunities. The company has been doing business as One Hour Heating & Air Conditioning since 2004 and is dedicated to growing and continuing to “impress the socks off” their customers.

One Hour Heating & Air Conditioning of Olathe celebrated its 36th anniversary in the spring of 2023. Though now the company conducts business from a comfortable building instead of a basement, Blachly doesn’t take any success for granted. He is constantly concerned with making his company better and his employees more successful. “Change is a big part of how we operate. We are constantly trying to find new and better ways to serve our clients, our employees and their families. We are looking forward to the continued growth and success of this great company.”
